Newly merged DES/CyraChrome Team Gets 5 Wicket Haul at 3DAP!

Digital workflow players DES achieve 5 new 3DAP approved solutions with new proofing media Spectrum 255 and Precision 260.

The introduction of two new Chromajet media, Precision 260 and Spectrum 255, combined with Epson inkjet printers and the EFI and CGS RIP's, gave DES a strong total at the 3DAP tests.

The Precision 260 has the lowest Delta E variance in any DES 3DAP proofing solution, and the ease of profiling this media is just one accolade - its wide colour gamut, high black densities and excellent shadow detail makes Precision 260 one of DES' finest proofing media.

The semi matt finish gives Precision 260 the look and feel of an offset finish, and will really bring your proofs to life.

The Precision 260 solution is given a rousing recommendation by Fraser Crozier, Prepress & Technical Development Manager, Pacific Magazines. "Precision 260 is the first proofing media released to the market that has been specifically designed for LWC web-offset. Due to it's paper white properties, there is no need to use a paper simulation when trying to achieve the industry standard colour match. Coupled with a very low bronzing effect, colloquially referred to as metamarism, and less
optical brighteners, the proofs work very well for both editorial teams and printers alike. For the technically driven, the deltaE tolerances have never been so achievable."

The Spectrum 255 offers the market a more economical semi gloss alternative; both media have high batch to batch stability and complement the growing range of DES proofing media.

The approvals went out to:

  • EFI ColorProof XF driving the Epson 800 Series with Spectrum 255
  • EFI ColorProof XF driving the Epson 600 Series with Precision 260
  • CGS ColorTuner driving the Epson 800 Series with Precision 260
  • CGS ColorTuner driving the Epson 600 Series with Precision 260
  • CGS ColorTuner driving the Epson 800 Series with Spectrum 255

Team captain Russell Cavenagh commented, ”This is the first joint 3DAP accomplishment for us and it proves that together DES and CyraChrome can create a comprehensive offering of successful proofing solutions on the market. We have more dedicated resources, equipment and technical staff than ever, and we are looking forward to a lot more exciting developments in the future. ”
